Artisans of Morocco

20-30 APRIL 2022

OR CHOOSE YOUR OWN DATES AND CREATE A PRIVATE TRIP

Moroccan arts and crafts are having their moment. From the rugs that Yves Saint Laurent adored to the brass lanterns that influence Tom Dixon's lamps to the beautiful zellij tiles that you've no doubt seen all over Instagram. If all things artisanal get your heart racing, then this is the trip for you.

Join us as we visit bustling Marrakech and the quiet calm of the Erg Chebbi desert, meeting with artisans who have practiced their craft the same way for generations along the way. Learn, hands-on, how to make Moroccan leather slippers and create a beautiful piece of Moroccan-inspired jewelry. Savour the flavours - and learn the cuisine - of this culture. This is a learning holiday to inspire and remember.

*Please note that there is a fair amount of driving in order to arrive at the magnificent Erg Chebbi desert. We will be transported by private car to and from the foot of the dunes, then 4x4 jeeps into the desert and to our luxury camp. Driving time will be four to five hours each day for two days to the desert and then back again (for a total of about 10 hours each way), plus stops at some of the most beautiful and significant cultural and natural sites in Morocco, including the Tizi n'Tichka pass, Ait BenHaddou, Ouarzazate, the Skoura Oasis, Boumalme Dades and Todra Gorge.

Highlights:

  • Visits with artisans whose families have practiced their craft the same way for generations and enjoy two half-day crafting workshops.
