Morocco with Amanda Thebe

Imagine narrow alleyways in blushing pink stone, sprawling markets crammed with carpets and spices, calls to prayer piped out from ancient minarets and you have Morocco, the location for this active retreat with bestselling author and fitness expert Amanda Thebe. This trip will take us on an adventurous road trip from Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains and deep into the sand dunes of the Erg Chebbi desert. The journey will be an adventure to excite, inspire and remember.

*Please note that there is a fair amount of driving in order to arrive at the magnificent Erg Chebbi desert. We will be transported by private 17-seat minibus to and from the foot of the dunes, then 4x4 jeeps into the desert and to our luxury camp. Driving time will be four to five hours each day for two days to the desert and then back again (for a total of about 10 hours each way), plus stops at some of the most beautiful and significant cultural and natural sites in Morocco, including the Tizi n'Tichka pass, Ait BenHaddou, Ouarzazate, the Skoura Oasis, Boumalme Dades and Todra Gorge. There is of course yet another mode of transportation we must not fail to mention: camels! On our first morning in the desert, we will travel in a camel caravan led by cameleers (anyone not keen to ride may walk alongside). 

Highlights:

  • daily training sessions including bodyweight strength and conditioning and yoga

  • a five day/four night excursion into the desert, with two nights in a beautiful camp set in the dunes 

  • visits to important cultural heritage sites and areas of spectacular beauty

  • camel riding, sand boarding

Sample day:​

  • ​7am: optional strength and body weight workout

  • 8am: breakfast

  • 9am: depart for the Skoura Oasis, going through the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stopping at the Ksour of Ait BenHaddou and the town of Ouarzazate before arriving at our destination

  • 6:30pm: optional gentle yoga and meditation

  • 8:00pm: dinner

The Retreat includes: 

  • Three nights shared (double) accommodation in a beautiful riad in Marrakech

  • Two nights shared (double) accommodation in tents with private ensuite bathrooms the Erg Chebbi desert

  • One night shared (double) accommodation in the Skoura Oasis

  • One night shared (double) accommodation in Agdz

  • all training sessions 

  • all activities and excursions

  • all breakfasts

  • all dinners

  • all lunches except the first and last day

  • local transportation

  • transfer from Marrakech airport (RAK) on 23 October 2021

  • transfer to Marrakech airport (RAK) on 30 October 2021 

The Retreat does not include: 

  • flights

  • transfers from any other locations outside of our predetermined place and time

  • lunch on the first and last day

  • alcohol

A recommendation:​

  • ​Consider spending one or two days in Paris or elsewhere in Europe or Morocco on your way to Marrakech - not only will this be a nice addition to your adventure but it will also help you overcome jet lag. We can help with any pre- or post- retreat travel plans.
