Dalmatian Discovery:
Croatia with Maureen Keegan
22-29 May 2027
Sail Croatia's Dalmatian coast with Maureen Keegan, where every day unfolds at its own unhurried pace. We'll swim in hidden bays, raft the wild rapids of the Cetina through limestone gorges, and cycle quiet coastal roads. We'll wander the marble streets of Split and Hvar, climb to fortress views and sail on to Korčula's fortified old town, birthplace of Marco Polo. On Mljet, we drift through a national park by lake and forest; on Brač, we swim at Zlatni Rat, Croatia's ever-shifting Golden Horn.
This is a week for those who want more than a deck chair - but no interest in punishing itineraries either. Think easy hikes, e-bike rides, and long lazy swims, balanced with just enough Roman ruins, Venetian architecture, and local wine to remind us how much history and flavour is packed into this stretch of coastline. By the time we return to Trogir, we'll carry home more than a tan - we'll take with us a sense of the Adriatic's rhythm, generous and slow, that only a week at sea can give.
The route: Trogir - Split - Omiš - Cetina Canyon (for rafting) - Makarska Riviera - Peljšac Peninsula - Mljet Island - Korčula Island - Hvar Island - Brač Island - Trogir
Itinerary (with meal inclusions in brackets):
22 May: Our journey begins in Trogir, where our crew welcomes us aboard and we set sail for a hidden bay on Čiovo for a swim in crystal-clear water. We continue to Split, the 1,700-year-old UNESCO city built around Emperor Diocletian's palace, and in the late afternoon walk through Marjan Forest Park before an evening in Split's lively harbour.* (Dinner included)
*Ongoing pier work in Split may require substituting an equally charming stop.
23 May: We start in Omiš for a two-and-a-half-hour rafting adventure through a limestone gorge, with stops for a snack, a swim, and an optional 5 m cliff jump (or a quiet coffee in Omiš's old town for those who'd rather stay dry). We sail on for lunch and a swim along the Makarska Riviera, mooring for the night in Brela, Baška Voda, or Makarska. (Breakfast, lunch included)
24 May: Continuing to the Pelješac Peninsula, anchoring in Kućište for a bike ride to Orebić and on to a 16th-century Franciscan convent with sweeping views toward Korčula. After lunch and perhaps a wine tasting in Orebić, we cycle back to Kućište for dinner on board and an overnight stay. (Breakfast, dinner included)
25 May: Sailing to Mljet for a guided walk through its national park, including a boat trip to a former monastery on a lake island and a swim in the unusually warm saltwater lakes. We continue on to Korčula, overnighting in Marco Polo's birthplace within its beautiful fortified old town. (Breakfast, lunch included)
26 May: Today we cycle along the coast to Račišće, then sail to Hvar with a swimming stop off Šćedro island. In Hvar Town, a guided walk and a climb up to the Španjola fortress reward us with views over the old town and the Pakleni Islands, where we overnight. (Breakfast, lunch included)
27 May: Onwards to Stari Grad, Hvar's oldest settlement, then cycling to Jelsa and back before rejoining the ship for lunch and a swim. In the afternoon we continue to Brač, mooring at Bol near Zlatni Rat, Croatia's iconic shifting-sand beach, for an overnight stay. (Breakfast, lunch included)
28 May: Today we bike along Brač's coast past a historic monastery to Murvica and back to Bol for a swim at Zlatni Rat, then sail to a nearby bay for lunch and afternoon swimming before returning to Trogir. A guided walk through Trogir's UNESCO old town closes out our final night in the port where we began. (Breakfast, lunch included)
29 May: After breakfast, we disembark in Trogir, closing out a week of hidden bays, cycling through vineyards and villages, rafting the Cetina rapids, and wandering towns steeped in Roman, Venetian, and Croatian history - carrying home the Adriatic's unhurried, generous rhythm. (Breakfast included)
